The department offers to students the possibility to gain access to a virtual server (VPS) for use in the context of their courses and diploma projects. These machines are provided when there is a need in the implementation of tasks that justifies the use of a Linux virtual machine with root user rights in a virtual Linux system.

These machines and their access are limited to the internal network of the IT Department. The possibility of using the service is limited to virtual machines of any available Linux distribution (Centos, Debian, Fedora, Scientific, Suse, Ubuntu). In any case, the recipient of a Linux virtual machine bears the responsibility of knowledge and management of the respective Linux distribution that will be granted.

To provide access, a request is registered at the HelpDesk, where the need to provide VPS and the period of time for which it is intended to be used must be explained. The  request presupposes that the respective student or researcher has come to an initial consultation with their responsible professor, regarding the need to provide a VPS machine from the infrastructure of the IT Department, as the responsible professor will have to confirm his request.
